Meet Sarah
About Sarah & WOVAN International
With over 17 years of dedication to nonprofit leadership, Sarah is an expert in program development, grant management, and executive leadership. She has a Community Health Education/Violence Prevention background and Masters Level’s Level experience in International Development.
In 2020, Sarah founded WOVAN and WOVAN International. Through the Minneapolis Police Department, she partnered on emergency housing placements with the Homeless Action Team and supported women-owned economic development projects in Karachi, Pakistan.
Relocating to Colorado Springs in 2024, Sarah, alongside her creative design partner and husband Zakir Baloch, shifted WOVAN to focus on International Arts Development. Today, WOVAN provides film production grants to emerging filmmakers in Lyari, Pakistan. Their grant-funded documentary "Mahelika" has won Best Short Film awards across Asia, Europe, and North America.
